Great Railway Journeys

The latest addition to the bookcase is this reprint of Bradshaw's 1963 Handbook otherwise known as "Bradshaw's Guide".
This is the book that inspired the television series presented by Micheal Portillo "Great railway Journeys"
I haven't had chance to read much of it yet, but, what I have seen and read makes interesting reading when compared to today's data.
Quite a lot of what Bradshaw describes in his handbook still applies today. It's interesting also to read about towns and stations that due to Dr Beeching no longer have stations or even a railway line anywhere near them.
Looks like I have some light bedtime reading for a few months at least!
